EXTERNAL AWARDS

The Boris Pregel Award for Applied Science and Technology (1985),  awarded by the New York Academy of Sciences for the development of the optical fiber pulse compressor.

The R. W. Wood Prize (1989),  awarded by the Optical Society of America. The citation is for distinguished contributions to the field of optical pulse compression, particularly for pioneering work on the use of optical fibers for generating ultrashort pulses of light.

The William F. Meggers Award (2003), awarded by the Optical Society of America.  The citation  is for seminal contributions to the development and application THz time-domain spectroscopy.

Honorary Professor of Tianjin University (2008), Tianjin, P.R.China.

Winner of the 2011 Kenneth J. Button Prize from the International Society of Infrared, Millimeter and THz Waves, for "Pioneering Contributions to the Development of THz Time-Domain Spectroscopy" (THz-TDS).

Research Publications:

Research work has resulted in 158 peer-reviewed journal publications with 8,459 citations; 21 publications have been cited more than 100 times; and 3 publications have been cited more than 300 times.  The Hirsch index is H= 51 where H is the number of papers cited more than H times.
